Hey there! If you’ve ever felt the sting of sending out cold emails and hearing nothing but crickets, you’re not alone. But don’t worry, there’s a way to turn those ice-cold leads into warm, engaging conversations. Let’s dive into the art of writing cold emails that actually convert.

The Golden Rule: Get a Warm Intro

First things first, the best way to get a response is to get a warm introduction. This can boost your conversion rate by two to three times compared to a regular cold email. Use your network — LinkedIn, friends, former colleagues, school alumni, and even past employers. Turn over every rock to find someone who can introduce you to your target.

Mapping Out Your Funnel

Before you start typing away, map out your funnel. Start with your goal. For instance, if you want one new customer, work backwards. If your demo-to-customer conversion rate is 10%, you’ll need to give 10 demos. If your email-to-demo conversion rate is 25%, you’ll need 40 responses. And if your open-to-response rate is 10%, you’ll need 400 opens. Finally, if your sent-to-open rate is 50%, you’ll need to send 800 emails. So, be prepared to send dozens of emails daily.
