The Five-Part Framework
Starting a business can seem daunting, especially if you’re broke or have no idea where to begin. But don’t worry, this five-part framework will guide you through the process. Plus, I’ve included two bonus tips to help you make your first dollar.
Step 1: The What
First, let’s figure out what your business is going to be about. I use something called the “Three Ps Framework”: Pain, Profession, and Passion.
- Pain: Think about a problem you’ve personally overcome. For example, a friend of mine has nine kids and developed a system for making lunch efficiently. That system could be the start of a business.
- Profession: Consider what you do for a living or have done in the past. A registered dietitian I know started teaching other dietitians how to bill insurance, turning her professional skills into a profitable business.
- Passion: What are you naturally interested in? For me, it was fitness. I was so…
